The Giro d’Italia 2020 arrives in Romagna with three exciting stages that will pay tribute to the cycling tradition of the area. The 103rd edition of the “race in pink” will cross the four provinces of Ferrara, Ravenna, Rimini and Forlì-Cesena and promises to be a great show for all cycling fans.
Porto Sant’Elpidio – Rimini stage
It is a mainly flat stage with a probable sprint arrival in Rimini which, in addition to the arrival of the Giro, in 2020, will also be celebrating the centenary of Federico Fellini’s birth.
The itinerary is largely along the route of the Gran Fondo 9 Colli (5 of which are classified as Grand Prix of the Mountain) and reaches Cesenatico, the birthplace of Marco Pantani. A tribute to the Pirate who in 2020 would have turned 50 years old.
Starting in Romagna and finishing in Veneto, this stage begins on the plain and then becomes brutal near the Euganean Hills, where the riders will also have to face the “Wall of Calaone” with gradients of 20%.
