On dirt roads amid the vineyards of Bertinoro
La Romagna dello SpungoneItinerary: Bertinoro, Fratta Terme, Polenta, Bracciano, Bertinoro
This itinerary for gravel and mountain bikes is an exciting tour through the vineyards of Bertinoro, witnesses of a very long and flourishing wine tradition. Starting from the centre of the town of Bertinoro, also known as “The balcony onto Romagna”, the route winds through bountiful hills and over mainly dirt roads with pleasant ups and downs; climbs are not lacking however able to put to the test even the best-trained cyclist. The reward will soon be served up on returning to Bertinoro where we warmly suggest a snack accompanied by a glass of one of the local wines, obviously at the table of one of the town’s welcoming taverns. After all, you are in the “Town of wine and hospitality “.

Curiosities
Pagadebit – Tradition has it that this name derives from an ancient grape variety particularly resistant and productive even in the less suitable years. With the sale of the wine produced from these grapes, the farmers were able to pay their bills for the entire wine-growing season, debts resulting from contracts stipulated verbally – the so-called pagadebit (literally “pay your debts”). Today Pagadebit is one of the most renowned white D.O.C. wines in the Bertinoro area.
