The Po Delta Park is a real haven for nature lovers. A stone’s throw from the Adriatic Sea, this itinerary helps cyclists discover natural and architectural treasures between the banks of the Po of Goro and Bianco Canal. It starts at Mesola Castle, one of the twelve Este villas, the so-called “Delizie”, which at the time was the sumptuous summer residence of Duke Alfonso II. It continues along the bank of the Po of Goro, before returning along Bianco Canal towards Abate Tower, an emblematic example of 16th-century hydraulic engineering. The Este Castle of Mesola
Protected by nine miles of city walls and surrounded by a large wood, which was created as a hunting ground, the Este Castle of Mesola was designed to serve both as a luxurious summer residence and as a fortress. Inside, you can visit the Museum of the Wood and Deer of Mesola. The section dedicated to this magnificent beast, the real king of Mesola Wood, will not fail to thrill both youngsters and adults alike.
