Conca gradients
Itinerary: Villa Verucchio, San Martino dei Mulini, San Clemente, Croce, Gemmano, Taverna, Montescudo, Fratte, Sassofeltrio, Montelicciano - Poggio, Mercatino Conca, Montegrimano, Pieve Cornena, Pietracuta, Ponte Verucchio, Villa Verucchio
A collection of the most captivating climbs in the province of Rimini. All winding around the Republic of San Marino, the route starts at Villa Verucchio and continues between two important watercourses in the region: the Marecchia river and the Conca torrent. A glance at the tour details shows it is suitable for trained cyclists. A series of four short but at times very demanding climbs will put legs and lungs to the test, especially in the stretch from Mercatino Conca to Monte Grillo: about 7 km with gradients of over 10%. The effort will in any case be rewarded by scenic views of the hills and spans between some of the most characteristic villages in the hinterland of Rimini, including Montescudo and Sassofeltrio.
Curiosities
Il Monte dello Scudo
In 2003, a group of five winemakers created a new Sangiovese DOC di Romagna: Monte dello Scudo. Ideal with first courses, meats and cold cuts of the Romagna tradition, this wine is produced exclusively in the area of the municipality of Montescudo according to strict regulations. Monte dello Scudo was created as part of the initiative “I sapori di Montoscudo” (The Flavours of Montoscudo), a project aimed at promoting typical local products.
