From Ferrara to the sea
Itinerary: Ro, Bondeno, Sant’Agostino, Ro
If you are in Ferrara and feel the urge to ride down to the sea on your bike, this route is the right one for you. Flat and never too tough, the entire route (thanks to Ferrara’s Bike Night) runs along the Destra Po cycle path (part of the Eurovelo 8 cycle path and the VENTO project) and reaches Lido di Volano, the first Ferrara seaside resort you encounter coming from the plain. Besides crossing the boundless Ferrara countryside without ever losing sight of the Great River, the route passes alongside some of the most iconic works of architecture of the district, such as the “delizia” of Mesola and Torre Abate.
Bosco della Mesola Nature Reserve – Located in the northern area of the Po Delta Regional Park, the Bosco della Mesola Nature Reserve is one of the oldest lowland forests and the habitat of various plant species, including holm and southern ash, and animals of various kinds. The undisputed king of the Bosco della Mesola is the “Dune deer” – there are 250 of these wonderful animals in the park.
